The Montane Experience

Montane does things differently. We are owner-operated, and are therefore able to provide more personalized and high touch services to our customers. This means we come directly to you, so you can see our large-format samples in your home, surrounded by your lighting, décor, and wall colors. We’ll answer all your hardwood flooring questions and provide you an estimate for your project. When you’re ready to order, we’ll make things simple and work directly with your installer or builder to get your materials on time and on budget.

We also work directly with homebuilders, designers, and developers to source top-quality hardwoods for new builds or existing home renovations. In a time of supply chain delays and construction material shortages, American-made Chelsea Plank Flooring generally has 2-4 week production lead times and a number of products available in-stock, as well as no international shipping delays, so you can get what you need to finish projects on schedule.

Montane Hardwood Flooring was started in 2021 by Sarah Frame. She is the niece of David and Lisa Frame who founded Frame Hardwoods, the company behind Chelsea Plank Flooring.

As a young kid, she remembers chasing her cousins around the wide open spaces of the Frame Hardwoods manufacturing facility in Chelsea, Michigan, while her aunt and uncle quietly built their business into a successful and respected manufacturer of the finest quality flooring, with customers from coast to coast. A few years later, as an adult remodeling her first home, Sarah purchased Chelsea Plank Flooring and became a true believer and an advocate of the beauty and durability of their products.

In 2018, Sarah and her husband, Dan, relocated to Utah from their home state of Michigan. While falling in love with the beauty of the mountain west, she realized there was an opportunity to bring Chelsea Plank Flooring to a booming market. So, Montane Hardwood Flooring was born. Sarah now works closely with the excellent team behind Chelsea Plank Flooring, including her cousin Megan, who is the second generation to run Frame Hardwoods.

When she’s not talking flooring, Sarah is cultivating some of her other loves: horseback riding, gardening, cooking, travel and spending time with her family and pets.
